Freedom From Your Hurts, Hang-Ups and Habits

Celebrate Recovery Meets Sunday Nights
@ 6PM in Room A125

What is Celebrate Recovery?
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. Shadowbrook Church provides a safe place for individuals to begin their journey of breaking free from all life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups.

The purpose of this ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the eight recovery principles found in the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) and through 12 Christ-centered steps of recovery.

We become willing to accept God’s grace and healing in our lives by working the 12 steps, sharing our experiences, strengths, challenges and hope with one another. We grow spiritually by applying the Biblical principles to our lives, becoming free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. We form stronger, personal relationships with God and others as a result of our freedom from hurts, habits and hang-ups. This freedom produces peace, joy and serenity.

How does Celebrate Recovery work?
At Celebrate Recovery, we put our trust in the only, true Higher Power, Jesus Christ. We use and teach Biblical principles.

We learn to love and be loved-- for who we really are, regardless of what we've done. We get real and start genuine friendships with people who have been there and done that... and understand where we're coming from. The Road to Recovery is not meant to be traveled alone.

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together…but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25

What is a hurt, habit, or hang-up?
A hurt, habit, or hang-up is something that hinders our walk with God and others.

The feeling of being HURT is an emotional reaction to another person’s behavior or to a disturbing situation. (abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, relationship issues, etc.)

A HABIT is an addiction to something or someone. (alcohol, drugs, food, pornography, gambling, smoking, etc.)

HANG-UPS are negative mental attitudes that are used to cope with people or adversity. (anger, depression, fear, shame, unforgiveness, etc.)
