2009 is predicted to be one of the most challenging years in recent history. The economic forecast is said to rival those not found since the Great Depression. All of this comes on top of our personal battles that frequent any family during the course of any given year. What can be done to strengthen us for such times? God’s answer is the same as it has always been… to draw closer to Him. This can be done by spending time in prayer with God and by relying on the truth of His word.
That is why we are challenging the people of Shadowbrook to take on a one year challenge to read the Bible through in its entirety.
This can be accomplished in just 15 minutes a day by following a simple reading plan. The plan features a selected reading from the Bible for each day from four different sections. The four sections include:
- a reading from the Old Testament
- one from the New Testament
- one from Psalms
- one from Proverbs.
This breakdown gives a real balance in your daily readings. You can have the history and great stories of the Old Testament, the hope of Christ found in the New Testament, along with the comforting words of the Psalms and the wisdom found in Proverbs. It’s like a having a well balanced meal with a selection from each of the four basic food groups at every meal!

Or you can use any or all of the following ways to keep you on target of reading the Bible through in 2009…
- Buy a One Year Bible that already has each of the daily readings divided out for you.
There are different translations available as well as large print at Lifeway.
- Go online at http://oneyearbibleonline.com and pick from over 21 different versions of the Bible to read your daily selections. By default it is set up on the daily reading plan starting January 1. You can simply click on the daily readings and read it online. If you download Real Player software, you can even listen to the reading online.
- You can also download the daily readings to your phone or PDA if you have internet access. Simply log on at http://www.OneYearBibleOnline.mobiand click on the date.
- We will also provide a link here at Shadowbrokchurch.org where you can click on the daily reading directly from our church website.
- If you use Google, you can add a Google gadget to your homepage and the daily readings will come up on your Goggle homepage automatically.
